Council Leader, Cllr Steve Reed, leads the way for Change Following Meeting with WERA Chair
Lambeth’s Leader of the Council has met with WERA Chair, Dave McEvoy to discuss working together to improve services and the way Lambeth serves its residents.
The meeting which took place at Lambeth Town Hall on Thursday 6th August 2009 discussed how Lambeth is moving forward and what can be done to improve the way residents receive its service from Lambeth. Councillor Steve Reed was committed to seeing Lambeth improve and making Lambeth a better place in many areas for those living and visiting the borough.
Following the meeting, WERA Chair said “I was impressed with Councillor Reed’s vision of a better Lambeth and what role we play in making our borough a better place. We know that for many years Lambeth has suffered from bad press and a negative image as well as under investment, I get a real sense this is going to change in the future for what is a great diverse borough to live in and visit.”
Steve Reed who is also Labour Councillor for Brixton Hill Ward and is already leading the way with a modern approach to communicating with those living and working in Lambeth by having a blog and being on social networking site, Twitter.
During the meeting, Councillor Reed indicated that changes are being made and lessons learned as well as a commitment to make things better for residents along with the ALMO, Lambeth Living.
Dave went on to say “I believe Lambeth is moving forward and we will soon see real changes to the way Lambeth works and is managed, it is a credit that such people like Councillor Reed take the time to listen and act on our views”
The Leader of the Council has now promised to visit Weir Estate and see what is being achieved next month as well taking part in a future WERA Asks interview.
