Community Garden

This page will give you all the latest information and plans on the exciting new Community Sensory Garden which is planned for a corner of Weir Estate. The site is situated on Anfield Close and we are aiming to transform the area into a wonderful place for residents and local people to enjoy, whether that be to relax and get involved in learning new skills as well as stimulating the senses. The space will also have an area for food growing of vegetables and herbs which we aim to be able to sell in order to sustain and maintain the garden for future generations of those living on and around Weir Estate.

Here, we will show you the plans as well as the latest developments with the project as its takes shape. We will be working with Lambeth Living to prepare the site and then it will be handed over to WERA to implement a design which will provide a place of rest and relaxation to enjoy a good book as well as offering surgeries where residents and local people can get advice and skills in gardening. We also aim to be able to welcome local schools into the space in which this will help maintain the garden while providing an educational benefit to our local community.

At the heart of the project is our community and will be for members of the community to get stuck into to transforming what is currently a tarmac wasteland serving no benefit or purpose. We want to see this space be a great space for all to enjoy no matter what your age or ability. We want to make it accessible to those with a wide range of disabilities as well as giving the chance to see your efforts grow……….literally!!!

We want residents and local people to get involved in what will be a fantastic space for all to enjoy. You can contact WERA for more information and how you can get involved.

A garden by the community for the community. We aim to be able to open the garden by the end of 2010.
